Desperately Seeking Advice

On purchasing a laptop computer. 

Let me summarize all  that I already know about laptops in one word.......nothing.

Two years ago I didn't even know what a blog was.  I was familiar with email but that's about it.  I swore I would never be "a computer person".  Mostly because I didn't think my ADD riddled brain could pay attention long enough to learn it.  But now thanks to my web designer Ralph, a few patient friends, a couple of textbooks, a night class, and hours of banging around on this thing.....I've made a few hops in the right direction. 

I'm still green though.  When I go to best buy and look at stuff I shake my head attentively as if I really understand what they are saying when they rattle off questions about  gigabytes, wi'fi, bluetooth, etc.  But I don't. I give them answers like a lot....I could probably use a lot of gigabytes.  

 Usually the clerk looks to be about 20 and it all comes so naturally to them.  I feel like a cumbersome, brain deficient, old lady.  And I'm so sure in my mind that they are so repulsed by my computer ignorance that they are wishing me to shrivel up and die so they can sweep me out the door.  I don't deserve to live in their world.  In my mind I  hear a deep James Earl Jones type voice come over the Best Buy loud speaker and it says "Attention customers, if you don't know how many gigabytes you need then we can't sell you a laptop.  Please leave quietly and without a fuss.  You know who you are."  I look around and no one else is moving.  It must be me.

So now my fear of looking like an ignoramus at Best Buy is keeping me from purchasing a laptop.  I am filled with self-doubt.  Like I should know everything there is to know about laptops before deserving one.  But I can't kid myself.  I don't have enough time or energy to really make a brainy decision.   And in the hopes of not having to use my usual method of eeeny meeny miney mo....well I thought it prudent to ask you all for any and all input you might have about laptops. 

I figure some of you out there might have a laptop you like or don't like and could offer up a little pearl of wisdom.   If you have a laptop that you love....please let me know what kind it is and why you like it.  Same thing for any negative experiences.  If none of you comment with advice, I won't take it personally.  I'll just know that you want me to continue on as an ignoramus.  So thanks.

Happy Thursday

I am sorry I have not been very bloggy lately.  Working lots and spending the rest of the time digging out of the snow and trying to get ready to host a big Christmas Day Dinner at my house.  If we did heavy duty cleaning more than 3x a year....it wouldn't take us 3 weeks to get it in tip top shape.  Lots of dusting in these old houses.

Anyway, just wanted to remind you all that Megan Morrison Home and Garden and Moxie are both open until 8 pm tonite.  We've been gift bagging up a storm at both stores and we'd love to gift bag for you too! 

Lots of you have been scouting out our website and then phoning in orders for pick up.  That's a great idea.  You can also just place the order online and in the comments box tell us that you would like to pick up instead of having it shipped and we won't put any shipping charges on your card when we process the order.  Either way works great!

Mini Me

Last night I was browsing thru some 1940's magazines that I bought a while back and I came across a drawing of a little girl and it kind of caught me by surprise because it looked like what I imagine my inner voice to look like. 

Now I know that some of you are probably thinking....oh my gosh here she goes again delving deep into some weird pretend world, but I just can't help it. That's just how my mind works.  I think in pictures much more than words.  So it makes perfect sense to me that my  inner voice (or conscience if you will) looks like something.  I mean when I turned the page I recognized her right away. 

She's the one whose voice I hear all day long telling me what I could be doing better and she helps to keep me on the life path I strive to be on.  She believes in all things good and happy and truthful.  I like her...so I put some words around her image because she loves creativity.

I Just Wanted To Say....

I Love My Lurkers

Lurker--noun...someone who is a regular reader of a blog but never posts a comment.

When a lurker speaks up for the first time, this is called delurking.

Just wanted to give a shout out to all of my faithful lurkers.  I know you are out there because my stats tell me that  hundreds of  people are reading this blog daily.  When I started this blog a year ago I had about 2 readers.  It is so exciting for me to see the number of readers increase weekly.  Which brings me to the subject of this post. 

Lurking....I have lurked on many a blog myself simply because I enjoyed reading them but didn't feel compelled to comment.  Kind of like being a fly on the wall.  But once in awhile I really did have something to say but felt weird because the blog writer didn't know me from boo.

I guess what I am really trying to say is that I'd like to personally invite all of my readers to post positive comments freely.  It doesn't matter if I know you or you know me.  It is fun to hear contributions from all sorts of people in lots of different locations.  And if you just like reading and don't want to comment....that's cool too!

I count peanut butter as one of my top ten foods of all time.  Specifically Skippy Extra Crunchy.  It is a pantry staple in our house.
