That's what I get from watching House Hunters International on HGTV.
I love that show. I'm slightly obsessed with it to be exact. I never watch a movie twice but those episodes filmed in Paris....well I think I've watched some of them at least 10 times.
Here is me while watching an episode...
Not all cute and French like, but all sitting forward with big dreamy doe eyes. I watch those lucky ducks combing the streets of paris for the perfect pad and I just can't help myself from thinking....what if it was me?? Should Bob and I sell everything and take our bag full of quarters overseas to buy ourselves a little something in the City of Lights? And it would have to be little because the normal 2 bedroom apartment seems to cost a cool million. The studio apts in bad condition are around a half a million.
And it isn't just the Paris episodes that suck me in. I've often found myself saying things like "Hey Bob, did you know you could buy a huge oceanside house in Costa Rica for 200 or so thousand dollars." Wherever the place is be it Italy, Belize, Spain, Portugal or Ireland by the end of the episode I'm likely to be smitten. I'm a dreamy girl with wanderlust. I can romanticize almost anything and that can be dangerous. I love the process of exploration and discovery. I'm also a hunter gatherer and the idea of not just a new town but a new country to explore is tempting and terrifying all at the same time.
For now, I'm staying put. I will continue to live vicariously thru the adventurous people on the show who pack it all up and move to a brand new country. I admire their pluck and sometimes I admire (or should I say envy) their bank accounts too! At this point in my life neither Bob or I could leave our families. Europe is not a hop, skip or jump away. But my dreams keep me moving forward and that's enough for me right now.
And if you are not familiar with House Hunters International....you might like it. It is good clean entertainment for the whole family. See more about it here.
